Well friends, the weather is getting colder, days are getting shorter, which can only mean one thing…
Our Jolly ol’ friend is coming soon!!!
And what better way to avoid the cold than grabbing your favourite beer, curling up with a blanket, and watching a classic Holiday Movie?
Although any Old Yale beer would pair great with any Holiday Movie, some beers are just made to be paired with some of our favourite classic movies. Team OYB spent countless hours in the field conducting research to determine these DEFINITIVE Holiday Movie + Beer Pairings.
The Movie: ELF
The beer: Bumbleberry vanilla wheat ale
We all know Buddy the Elf’s favourite food is Spaghetti with Maple Syrup, but did you know his favourite beer is the OYB Bumbleberry Vanilla Wheat Ale? The sweet vanilla and fruit flavour in this new Trailblazer Release is the perfect beer to satisfy your own sweet tooth while you sit down and enjoy Buddy’s adventures in New York City.
The movie: National lampoons christmas vacation
the beer: moon dance mango wheat
You know that scene where Clark Griswold is imagining his new Pool… and a couple of other things… in his backyard while Mele Kalikimaka plays?? Watch that scene and sip on a smooth and tropical Moon Dance Mango Wheat and you’ll get it… PLUS, we just feel like Cousin Eddie would have a 6-pack of these bad boys in his RV.
the movie: spirited
the beer: raspberry lemon drop sour + gin fizz citrus sour
This new Holiday Movie features a dynamic comedy duo in Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, so why not pair it with our own Dynamic Duo? The Raspberry Lemon Drop Sour and Gin Fizz Citrus Sour is the perfect combo to sit down and watch this new movie.
PRO TIP: Combine equal parts of each beer to create an amazing Pink Lemonade beer. You can even call it a Ryan Ferrell (Will Reynolds??) for the day.
the movie: the santa clause
the beer: eggnog spiced cream ale
We all know that Santa loves when we leave him eggnog and cookies when he comes to give us presents, but imagine how much faster he would work if he knew that there was a pint of Eggnog Spiced Cream Ale waiting for him!
One of our newest Trailblazer Releases, the Eggnog Spiced Cream Ale is a light refreshing Ale with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg to give it that familiar Eggnog taste. This beer is the perfect drink to enjoy while watching The Santa Clause.
the movie: How the grinch stole christmas
the beer: hazy hopped double ipa
The Grinch presents himself as a bitter, angry Grinch that hates Christmas. However, throughout the film we realize that he may not be as bitter and hard-shelled as we may have thought. Similarly, our newest double IPA may come across as unapproachable for a non hop head, but when you really get to know it you’ll realize how truly smooth and approachable it really is. So sit down, open up a Hazy Hopped Double IPA, and watch the Grinch’s heart grow two sizes that day.
the movie: the holiday
the beer: brown sugar oat stout
This warm, feel good movie is the perfect movie for a rainy December day. What better way to enjoy it than cracking open a Brown Sugar Oat Stout? This decadently rich beer will warm your heart, just like this holiday love story does.
“If Brown Sugar Oat Stout were a melody, I’d use only the good notes” - Miles, probably
the movie: home alone
the beers: craft cooler
There’s a lot that we don’t know about the elusive Wet Bandits. These two may not be the best at what they do, but they do know to always pick up the best craft beer around. That is why they always reach for the OYB Craft Cooler. This 12 Pack has something for everybody, and contains 4 of our tastiest brews, including the Moon Dance Mango Wheat, Knotty Blonde Ale, Off Trail Pale Ale, and West Coast IPA.
