Our long awaited Summer Solstice is almost here and we could not be more EXCITED!!! Bring on those long Summer nights and ice cold BEERS! We’re gonna dive into the meaning of the Summer Solstice and what goes on to make this the year’s longest day.
Summer Solstice
The official First Day of Summer is this Sunday, June 20th. Which just also happens to be Father’s Day in case you needed the reminder! The Summer Solstice this year will begin on June 20th, at 11:32pm. This very moment will mark the beginning of Summer here in the Northern Hemisphere, as the Sun travels to its highest point along our sky. This means that the Earth has now reached the point on its orbit where it is at its maximum tilt towards the sun (about 23.5degree if you want to get nerdy with it). All this just means that we’ll have the most possible hours of daylight and the shortest night of the entire year (yipeeee!). So June 20th out of all days is THEE DAY to get outside and enjoy that sunshine for as long as you possibly can!!
