Trails to Blaze: Cascade Falls

We’re sure by this point, we have all felt as though we’ve been on hundreds of socially distanced walks around all the local trails and it’s time for some change of scenery!!

Cascade Falls in Mission is a great spot for your next hiking trip- Not TOO far of a drive but far enough out that it feels like you’re switchin’ it up a bit. This is the perfect little hike for those days you need a dose of nature, but aren’t prepared to bust out your hiking poles and boots to go trekking through the bush ( hike is only 0.75km- about ten minutes from the parking lot to the falls) Not to mention the STUNNING view of the falls at the end which can be accessed on the trail or on the suspension bridge! AND the whole park is dog friendly so the puppers can come along for the adventure!

The regional park also offers multiple swimming holes perfect for kicking back with a beer on those sweltering hot days and in the colder months, the falls freeze over and make for some super sick photos… but, make sure to wear sensible footwear it can get slippery!

Soooo who’s ready to go chase some waterfalls?? Sorry TLC.

Getting there:

Of COURSE you’ll need to stop by Old Yale first and grab the essentials😉. So, once you’re all packed up and ready to go…from our Tasting Room you’ll want to start by heading west on South Sumas towards Unsworth Road. You’ll then turn right onto Lickman road (follow the signs that say Trans Canada Highway/BC-1). Soon you’ll come to a round about where you will take the second exit continuing onto Lickman Road, merging into the left lane to use the highway ramp exit towards Vancouver.

You’ll then continue on the highway for about 23 km until you come to exit 92 to merge onto BC-11 N towards Mission. In 1.1 Km take a second exit towards BC-7 E/Mission City Centre/ Agassiz then turning left onto Horne St ( lookout for City Centre/Industrial Park signage). Next turn right onto Glasgow Ave/Murray St then another right onto first Ave/Lougheed Hwy/BC-7 E.

We’re almost there guys ! Just one more left onto Sylvester Road which you’ll follow for about 15km ( lot’s of cute farm animals to look at along the way) and lastly a right onto Ridgeview road. The way to the parking lot is pretty well signed so it’s pretty easy to navigate your way around!

Hiking Route:

Once you’ve reached the parking lot you’ll see a gate ( which is sometimes hard to spot if it’s wide open so keep those eyes peeled!) Then head through that gate and up the trail on your right hand side. Continue up the trail until you see some wooden stairs which you’ll hike up for a few minutes to reach the first view of the beauty cascade falls!

If you’re looking to view the falls from the suspension bridge, continue up the rest of the stairs from the first viewing point and you’ll come to the opening of the suspension bride. Once you’ve crossed over the bridge, you’ll get to the second viewing point where in the Summer and Spring months, you can bask in the refreshing mist spraying off of the glorious falls! Both the viewing points make for the perfect photo opt so bring your cameras, and enjoy the beauty of Cascade Falls!

Happy trails everyone!
