We’re back at it again with another Trail to Blaze… this one is a popular one and for good reason. It’s short, it’s sweet, it’s steep and it’s got a ton of adorable Teapots along the way… it’s Teapot Hill…
Here’s everything you need to know…
HIKING STATS
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 2 hours
Round-Trip: 5km
Elevation Gain: 250 meters
Season: Year’ round
Dog Friendly: Yes (on-leash)
GETTING THERE
The infamous Teapot Hill Trail is located in Cultus Lake Provincial Park about 20 minutes after you pass main beach. You’ll park in the Teapot Hill parking lot and start the hike heading uphill, after 100m, you’ll find the park map AND a conveniently located outhouse… in case you forgot to go before you left home!
THE TRAIL
We should prepare you that although this is an “easy” and short hike… it’s a steep one and the uphill jaunt starts immediately. You’ll continue heading up for quite a while, passing by a stream and many different kinds of trees. Continuing on for about 20-30 minutes, you’ll find a sign indicating that Teapot Hill is just off to the right, keep on going, taking notice… and probably a couple of pics of the beautiful flowers on the hike to go along with the hundreds of photos you’re going to take of the cute little Teapots you see along the way. They don’t call it Teapot Hill for nothing…
Then… you guessed it… you’ll hit another steep hill. But don’t worry, it means you’re almost there, this hill is about to level out and you’ll find your first view of Cultus Lake. It’s breathtaking, it’s vast and it makes you wanna go for a dip… especially given how sweaty you are… So, stop take it in briefly (and again grab a couple of snaps #forthegram) and continue on.
THE VIEW
The best part of every hike is the view, are we right?!?!
After about another 100m or so, the second viewpoint that overlooks the lake and Columbia Valley is finally in your sights
CELEBRATION BEERS
This Trail is steep and it’s called Teapot Hill, so the celebratory beer of choice seems pretty darn obvious, hey?? Yupp you guessed it, it’s West Coast IPA…. Just kidding, we’re obviously going for a Simply Steeped Poolside Peach Tea Radler in all of it’s light, easy and refreshing glory. If for some reason this Tea Radler doesn’t fit your after hike bill, then we of course would recommend our Fraser Valley Lager. There’s something about the first sip of a remarkably refreshing Lager after a hike that just hits right… especially when the view shows off one of the most beautiful views.
There you have it friends, you’re all set to take on Teapot Hill! All you need now is some awesome beer handy to celebrate when you’ve blazed this trail!
