Happy Earth Day everyone! We hope you take today to appreciate this amazing planet we live on. Here at Old Yale Brewing, we're committed to doing our part in protecting the Earth. In honor of this special day, we want to showcase the ways we've been going green and making a positive impact on the environment.
DONATING SPENT GRAINS
Brewing beer is a process that involves a lot of grain, and we want to make sure we're not wasting any of it. That's why we donate our spent grains to a local farm where they can be used to feed livestock. It's a win-win situation: we're reducing waste and supporting our local farming community. Plus, we know the animals are getting a nutritious meal!
UNSWORTH ROAD ADOPTION
At Old Yale Brewing, we believe it's important to give back to our community and take care of our surroundings. That's why we've adopted a stretch of Unsworth Road and help keep it clean. We're committed to making a difference, no matter how small, and believe that a clean community is a happy community. We encourage everyone to join us in taking care of our roads and keeping them clean for everyone to enjoy.
LOCAL INGREDIENTS
We're passionate about creating delicious beer, and we're equally passionate about reducing our carbon footprint. That's why we've made a conscious effort to source local ingredients, including fruit, for our beers. For example, we partnered with Greendale Lavender to create our Lavender Lemon Blonde Ale. We have also teamed up with Klaasen Blueberries and the BC Strawberry Grower Association to create some of our delicious fruit beers.
RECYCLING & COMPOSTING
At Old Yale Brewing, we're committed to reducing waste and promoting sustainable practices. That's why we've implemented recycling and composting initiatives at our brewery. We recycle all of our cardboard and paper products, as well as all our aluminum cans. We also use 100% recyclable Pakteck holders for all of our 4 packs and 6 packs! In addition, we compost all of our food waste in our kitchen. By composting, we're not only reducing waste, but we're also creating a valuable resource that can be used to enrich soil and promote healthy plant growth.
There you have it friends! As we celebrate Earth Day and reflect on our impact on the planet, we at OYB are proud of the steps we've taken to reduce our environmental footprint. We believe that by taking small steps towards sustainability, we can make a big difference. As you enjoy our beers, we invite you to join us in our commitment to protecting our planet and reducing waste. Together, we can create a more sustainable future. Cheers to the Earth!
